The crazy kids of Don't Feed the Actors make their Central New York Playhouse
debut.  DFtA specializes in audience interactive improv and is one of the longest
running improv troupes in Central New York.  Having toured all over Central New
York their large stable of theatrically trained actors rotate in and out of each show,
ensuring a unique experience each time.
 They are scheduled to come back 9 times in
2015.

We have a great afinity for all kinds of theater at The Central Ny Playhouse, including Improv Theater.  We have partnered with Don't Feed the Actors to bring you
frequent Improv Comedy Nights in the style of Whose Line Is It Anyways and Drew Carey's Improvaganza.  And from time to time we will also have other Improv
groups in as well to have fun on our stage.  So check it out and we hope to see you at one of these fine events.

Syracuse Improv Collective Shows
The Syracuse Improv Collective brings their monthly "Bank Show" to the Central New York Playhouse.  The
Collective specializes in bringing a show like no other combining long form improv with musical acts and
stand up comedy.  You never know what the SIC has in store and CNYP is glad to have them come to our
stage.  For just $5 you can't go wrong.

Intro to Improv Classes with Syracuse Improv Classes
6 weeks of instruction starting January 10th
For beginners that have always wanted to pursue improv, for the adventurous looking to try something new, and for the
veterans looking to reconnect with the basics. Intro to Improv brings in basic concepts like listening, Yes and, sharing
focus, relationships, and generosity. Intro to Improv does not have a performance component, so class energy will be
focused on these building blocks, applying them to scene work, and having fun.

Classes are 10am to noon January 10, January 17, January 24, January 31, February 7, February 14

Scene Work Improv Classes with Syracuse Improv Classes
6 weeks of instruction starting February 28th
The Scene Work class builds on the fundamentals learned in the Intro to Improv class and introduces the importance of
storytelling as it applies to the performance of scenes. It will stress working together and focus on techniques for starting
scenes and developing interesting characters and situations that the audience cares about. It will also work on recognizing
and dealing with common pitfalls improvisers face. At the end of the class, participants will be comfortable with good scene
work and will be ready to apply their knowledge to more advanced improv forms.

Classes are at 10am-noon February 28, March 7, March 14, March 21, March 28, April 11 (no class Thumbs UPstate
Weekend)

Long Form Improv, The Harold, Classes with Syracuse Improv Classes
6 weeks of instruction starting April 25th
The Harold is a long-form structure developed by Del Close and is the basic form all long-form improvisers should know.
This course will teach the fundamentals of the form as well as continuing to work on scene work and character
development. This course is recommended for anyone who has some improv experience and feels comfortable
participating in a two-person scene. Graduates of this class will have the opportunity to audition for a SIC house team.

Classes are at 10am-noon April 25, May 2, May 9, May 16, May 30 (no class Memorial Day weekend), June 6
